Long before Pet Society, Happy Pets, Petville and Zooworld came to existence, there was already a virtual pet that took storm back in its inception,Tamagotchi. Yesterday was the Japanese digital pet's 15th year in existence. Handheld, mini-egg shaped, some buttons - make for the perfect kids' pets that they can carry around. Owners will have to feed, raise, discipline and clean up their pets starting from it being hatched - hence, the name. Tama is egg in Japanese and uocchi is watch, the two words resulted to the portmanteau "Tamagotch." Google honored Louis Daguerre last Friday with a doodle depicting a daguerreotype image for his supposedly 224th year. I had to look at my uploads to see if what I had once taken a photo of is a Daguerreotype...it is! And two of them. Only I didn't know which year these two are from. Daguerreotype images are a direct positive made in the camera on a silvered copper plate. No negatives - making it impossible to recopy...And since it uses slow lenses, one needs longer exposure and it also means no moving, no smiling, no blinking for the subject whose portrait is being taken. This reminds me of the laser engraved photo on crystal glass we had during our trip to Disneyland Paris. We had to stay ...

Angry Birds

Hubby came home 2 weeks ago with a complete set of angry birds plush toys. The kids were ecstatic...they've been bugging him every time on Skype to buy their bird with color choice and boy were they surprised that he did came home with all of them. (Except for the yellow bird and one pig which we found and bought in Nürnberg). They were building up structures using Lego like those in the angry birds game. They would put the pigs up those structures and throw the birds one by one, just like how the game is supposed to be...you can even hear them imitating the sound effects - lol - both of the birds tweeting or the bricks falling down. I think the kids would enjoy the fun at an Angry Birds ...
