Do you really want to be a programmer?
YES! I’ve been in love with programming since I was in Grade 6.
What is programming for you?
Programming is an art and a way of living. I treat it like an art. So I really get mad when I saw someone ruining it.
Describe yourself as a programmer.
I’m ambitious. I dream high. Even people laugh at my dreams I still strive to pursue it.
I will be a huge competitor of Facebook. Google, and other giants in the future. It seems to be impossible.
But there is no harm on trying.
What’s your greatest achievement as a programmer?
In 2009, during our Christmas break in our university. I played with some Batch Scripting in Windows. Then VIOLA! Akira was born.
It is a remote control script that uses Dropbox as the main channel of communication.
There is also this time during my college days when our professor gave us a mini compiler project.
I created a Lexer Generator. Then when our professor saw it. She can’t believe it and even asked me “Where did you download this?”.
It took a couple of minutes to convince her that it was really my code. It was offensive for me. Yet I felt proud that a college professor can’t believe what I just did. (To my professor: I really code that ma’am!)
What is/ are your future plan/ s?
I want to develop a startup company here in the Philippines. I want to put our country in the map, in terms of technology.
Advice for newbies and dreamers.
I always say this to my fellow programmers.
“Knowledge is gained by asking. Wisdom is gained by trying.”
Stop asking about everything to your professor or to your mentor. Face your computer and figure it out by yourself!
“Always work like you’re number 2.”
Don’t be confident bitch. You know how to declare a class. But that doesn’t make you a great programmer than anyone else.
You are not number 1. Always work hard. 🙂
Thanks a lot Karl for your support.
